I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist in California. I graduated in 1996 from United States International University in San Diego (Alliant International University). I was licensed in Calfornia in 1998 and I have been in private practice in the Hillcrest area of San Diego since that time.
With over 18 years of experience as a Psychologist I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of people living with life and mental health challenges. I have a great deal of experience and expertise in providing evidence based treatment for the treatment of trauma, anxiety and PTSD. Some other areas of expertise include depressive disorders, grief, loss and bereavement, life transitions and relationship challenges.
My style tends to be collaborative and relaxed. I see the role of a psycholgist as a mixture of many roles depending on the situation. That role can be as a teacher, a coach, a cheerleeder, a trusted sounding board or a mentor. My ultimate goal is to help my client get what they need from the process. Often times people initiate therapy because someting in their life is not working; my goal is to assist you with getting your life back on track. In that process my hope is you will develop a greater understanding and compassion of and for yourself. With that understanding, you will develop strategies for managing your life challenges in a way that promotes your internal sense of well being and success.
In addition to my Practice experience, I have worked in in-patient psychiatric hospitals, community mental health agencies and provided clinical services for research studies on PTSD. I have supervised pre-doctoral and post doctoral students; I have taught graduate classes at The University of Phoenix and I was the interim Coordinator of the LGBT Center's Behavioral Health Services.
