Beginning therapy for the first time or looking to start therapy with a new therapist can be challenging, exciting and certainly anxiety provoking. My hope is to make the "getting started" process as easy as possible.
I take an active approach as a therapist and I see the therapeutic process as a combination of roles. Sometimes we are teachers, sometimes we are sounding boards, sometimes we are coaches, sometimes we are mentors. My primary role and goal is to assist you in working through challenges, finding clarity in decision making and helping you to understand yourself better. I believe that, while we don't need to live in the past, it is helpful to understand how our past impacts us today in our relationships and decision making process.
